faulting application mshtml.dll pwb.exe

Post by SaLSouL »

hello,

I have 6 machines running pwb as shell on win xpsp3, when I came in this morning, all 6 of them had failed to restart the browser and just had blank desktops..

error log states

Faulting application pwb.exe, version 2.1.0.7. faulting module mshtml.dll
version 7.0.6000.16981. fault address 0x000b2262.

Event ID :1000
Source : Application error

once all of the pc's were restarted everything was fine..

has anyone come accross this problem before ?

many thanks

Try upgrading to the current version PWB v2.10.9.

There is an issue with the newest Flash Player and versions of PWB previous to v2.10.8 that can cause this type of problem.

Hi scott

thanks for the reply..

however these are locked down and will not allow access to a flash enabled website, so It cant be that.

pwb is run as shell and it allows users to login to a Remote Application Server or check there OWA email via pwb. this service is hosted by citrix XenApp plugin, this then allows the user to open a browser within the remote session to gain access to the relevant resource. using IE 8 Firefox 3. it is at this point that they will have access to flash enabled websites. this is impossible without going through our R.A.S server.

Any other suggestions ?

many thanks

Have you tried using the new version?

There have been several enhancements from PWB v2.10.7 to PWB v2.10.9 that may correct the problem.

When using PWB v2.10.x, it is as easy as replacing the PWB.EXE file with the new PWB.EXE file.

Yes, from PWB v2.10.x to PWb v2.10.9, all you need to do is replace the executable. There are no changes to the INI file, or supporting files that need to be done.

any suggestions please ?

thank you

EDIT : I have traced the problem to DisableDialogTimer, When this is set to true and an attempt is used to go to a website that is not on the URL.txt then the PWB crashes with the above fault error report, but when the DisableDialogTimer=False the attempt is still blocked by URL.txt but the browser does not crash. Could this be the problem.

many thanks

Thanks for the detective work.

Please send a copy of your INI file as an attachment to support@teamsoftwaresolutions.com and I will look into it.
