Authenticating a single web site

As far as auto login for subscription our sites go, most (all but one) allow entering the username and password into the URL. Example: http://www.site.com/login.php&user=me&password=mypass

Of course you need to find the specific syntax for each site. With all the subscription databases we have we use that as the URL and since login to the site happens immediately our patrons never see the URL with the username & password.
