SendTo: very slow sending PDF files from PWB

Post by Oleg »

We have a large collection fo PDF files, and many patrons choose to email them. While short (under 100k) files are processed quickly, it took 1 min 37 secs to mail 466k document (http://www.adobe.com/misc/pdfs/tableofcontents.pdf). Is it the way it's supposed to be??? I am wondering if something can be done to speed it up...

Thanks!

It depends on the PDF file, the speed on the Web Server the PDF file resides on, and the SMTP server. If the PDF file is not cached localy, which is normally the case unless the PDF file or the Web Server prevents local caching, PWB has to download the file before it can send it. If the Web Server is slow, the PDF is large, or the SMTP server is slow, there can be a delay caused when PWB downloads the file then sends the file through the SMTP server.
