Restricted "Save Target As"

Post by azecraze »

I know this has been mentioned before as I searched through the forum, but I was wondering if there has been any progress made on the ability to restrict users from downloading files with particular extensions (mp3!!) using Right Click > Save Target As ??
I dont mind if they click the link and open/play the file - just prevent saving to the hard drive of particular extensions.

You should be able to set the MP3 MIME type to always open to prevent this type of file from saving.

Can I do this on a client, or can this only be done on a server.
If so, how would I go about it?

When you click on the file and the File Download dialog is displayed, uncheck the "Always ask before opening this file type."

You can also open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, and click on the File Types tab. Scroll down to the type of file, in this case MP3, highligh it, click on the Advanced button, and check the "Confirm open after download." check box.
