PWB v3 CEF

Post by Scott »

PWB v3 CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) uses the Chrome HTML rendering engine instead of the IE rendering engine thus it does not suffer from the IE compatibility issues of IE.

Unlike PWB v3 IE which uses the installed version of IE on the computer, PWB v3 CEF is distributed with CEF and there is no need to install Chrome, unless any sites that need to be navigated to uses any Chrome plug-ins such as Flash.

Because PWB v3 CEF is distributed with CEF and it does not use the local copy of IE installed on the computer, it is recommended when using a shared installation only the INI and secondary files such as the URL filter file, be accessed from a shared network location. Network latency can cause inadvertent connection and rendering issues.

To switch to PWB CEF from PWB IE do the following.

1. Make a copy of your PWB folder just in case.
2. Unzip the PWB CEF upgrade distribution in your PWB folder and overwrite the PWB.exe file.
