Upgrade Woes

Post by tsaman »

Hello--

There is probably a simple fix to this problem, but I'm stumped. I've just upgraded from PWB 2.05 to 2.09. It looks good, with one problem: Whenever I launch, using a shortcut to the pwb.exe on the server, I get the Microsoft warning box that says,

"Open-File Security Warning"

I deselect that box that says "Always ask before opening file," but the next time I launch I still get the security prompt.

I've tried logging in as domain admin and get the same response.

Could you advise me on how to make this stop?

I hope you're able to see some good fireworks this weekend.

Are you opening the EXE from a network location in an Active Directory?

If you are, you need to add the doamin name to the Trusted sites in the Internet Options Control Panel applet Security tab.
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/networkfile.htm

If you are not, the easiest way is to copy the PWB.EXE onto a USB memory drive formated as FAT32. This will remove the Windows XP security bit the Windows XP SP2 NTFS security bit.

There was a simple solution to the problem. I ran PWB on the actual servier, deselected the "always ask" box, and that fixed it.

So, "never mind."
