That's not working either. I thought maybe there was a connection with using the .ini that is on a server, but I copied it to the c:\ drive and it still doesn't reopen

Send a copy of your current INI file to support@teamsoftwaresolutions.com as an attachment.

I think I pinned down the error. On this computer I just formatted and started over. I tested PWB with our .ini and it worked fine. Then by habit I installed Flash, Reader, Shockwave and Java just in case. Then I tried to run PWB and the restartonclose did NOT work. I uninstalled Java and now it works. It was java 6 update 33.

I am not sure we really need java on these computers as they are only for access to our library catalog. I will do some more testing.

Thanks

It still does not work consistently with your StopPwb or my little program that presses ALT-F4. It works about 1 out of three times. When it doesn't work I have to end the process in taskmanager. Today I have been testing as the administration with no success.

The only differences that I can think of between our 35 that are working fine out in the libraries and this one is that this one is quite a bit newer and I am running IE8.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

If you hit Alt-F4 on the keyboard does it close?

Try using an unedited INI file and only change [Security]RestartOnClose=True.

The RestartOnClose uses the Windows API "CreateProcess" with the same command line that started PWB to start a new instance of PWB before exiting.

Perhaps you could try using AutoRestart available on the Downloads page?

I am using PWBStop for my shell button for the patron to purposely end their session. I am using AutoRestart. It basically works but I see that each time PWB restarts it is a separate process in TaskManager. I can see that could be a problem after several restarts.

Getting closer I think.

Still getting several instances of pwb.exe running when I stop pwb and autorestart opens it.

Any ideas?

Try increasing your "TimeToRestart" for AutoRestart.

You can also try setting [Security]DisableSecondInstance=True for PWB.

Just for testing I tried running PWB without autorestart and NOT using my shellbutton, but clicking on Exit from the File menu. It does close PWB but it is still appearing in the Task Manager.

Another really odd thing when I was trying Autorestart was that I would exit PWB and it would not autorestart. If I stopped the process in taskmanager, then it would start PWB and then it would continue to open it again and again in a second window, even when I DisabledSecondInstance=TRUE

Start with a plain build of Windows that is not part of a domain and a new install of PWB, then set the restart on close to true. Test if PWB restarts when you close it. If it does, then the problem is with something you are adding to Windows or Windows policies being enforced by the Windows domain.
