Gmail support with IE 8 going away

We've had concerned patrons report that Gmail is not going to support IE 8 any more, which is what is in use behind our PWB V3 on Windows XP systems. Does that mean we need to upgrade to Windows 7 public access system so that we can install IE 9 or is there a way to keep using Windows XP with PWB V3?

Mainstream Windows XP support ended in 2009, and the extended support is going to be ending soon.

We will be adding Chrome Engine support to PWB v3 when the CEF is fully available which will work with Windows XP, but this does not take away the fact that Windows XP will not be getting updates any longer.
