Specifying an alternative viewer / helper for JPG files

Post by timh »

I want PWB to use the Windows Picture and File Viewer as the viewer for directly linked JPG files (i.e. A HREF="....jpg") rather than the built-in viewer.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Tim.

You can do this if you have access to the pages that are linking to the JPG files by using VBScript to load the JPG file in the viewer.

Scott,

Probably not practical as we have one set of more than 300,000 jpg files on our own storage. What we really want is to be able to specify the viewer for all linked to jpg's, as distinct from the inline ones. This is something I am sure you used to be able to do for various different file types with first and second generation browsers. Has this functionality been dropped? I this a PWB function or something inherited from IE?

Regards,

Tim.

PWB uses Internet Explorer for all the HTML rendering, so if you can do what you describe in IE, you can do in in PWB by configuring IE to do it on the same computer.
