Blank Screen on Close

We use a HTML splash screen on some of our PCs to launch applications like Word and Excel. On the splash screen there is a button 'Close Session', which trys to close the browser. On pressing the button PWBs close dialog kicks in asking the customer if they have really finished. This is all how we d...

We have had intermittent problems with many forms of Webmail (Hotmail and Yahoo being obvious examples) caused by our Council's proxy server/firewall. They are disabling certain scripts which are needed by the pages to run properly. Our problems were exactly as you describe them, but disappeared whe...

If anyone is interested as well I'm working on two solutions to this sort of problem. 1. A proxy dll to replace comdlg32.dll which provides the standard OPEN/SAVE dialogs for most windows applications. IE, notepad and explorer being notable examples, but most programs piggy-back off this dll for the...

Thanks to some feedback from VernM I've fixed a bug regarding the on-screen display of printing costs (Some of my defaults were hard-coded by accident).

I've emailed Scott the latest version.

Thanks Scott,

I'll look into that. Would a cgi script count?

I think there is a simple re-direction which I can probably eliminate, but our Library Management System generates most pages in response to a CGI query.

Troubleshooting the Inactivity timer

Hi Scott, I was wondering if you can advise me on something to do with the Inactivity timer. We want our catalogue PCs to reboot after 5 minutes of inactivity, and the settings below are doing the job, but there is an annoying side effect. Even when the computer has just turned on, with no-one havin...

I thought for a moment about what I just said, and in the interests of proving myself wrong (before anyone else does  ) I thing I found a solution. Basically you use an ActiveX object to dynamically write the batch file for you inside the javascript. Below is a rather inelegant example which I ...

Hi Jason, Have you read this... http://www.teamsoftwaresolutions.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=514 It touches on an issue like yours. The main difference I can see is that you don't want to use different .lnk files. The only obvious alternative I can see is if you had batch files swap the ini file you ...

We wrote our own.

It's just a simple program which writes to a log file. It runs froms PWBs startup script.

Then monthly (or whenever necessary) we have a sript to archive and count the entries in the log file.

EDIT : If you want, I can send some source code.

I've fixed another bug in the template. Some of our customers were complaining about an error showing up on certain web sites when trying to print. It has to do with the template trying to test for the existence of frames and the remote site denies permission. I've added appropriate error handling n...
