Thanks!
I assume these double backslashes would throw off 2.04r2 and therefore I need a different url.txt files for my 2.04r2 and 2.04r4 computers. Am I correct?
Eventually I will have them all running the same verison of PWB....

Problems with my 2.04r2 .ini and url.txt in 2.04r4
All of our public computers are currently running 2.04r2. I have updated one to 2.04r4 and it is using the same ini and url.txt file that all the other computers are using. On the 2.04r2 computers I can browse to any site via the address bar or links (as it should be doing). On the 2.04r4 compter I ...

Paste bug
A patron was trying to copy some text from a Web page into the adress bar and was unable to do so. They selected the text, pressed the Copy button in the toolbar, put the cursor into the address bar and the Paste button did not become active. I was able to repeat this problem. It seems as if the Pas...

Public Access Computer Mailing Lists?
Does anyone know of an active mailing list that covers issues related to supporting Public Access Computers. I've found a couple lists, but none with much activity in the last year.
Thanks!
Thanks!

WOW! Thanks Emrick! I didn't even think of trying Read Only on the Downloded Program Files folder since this is Windows 98 and I am so used to (stupid) Windows 98 ignoring the Read Only attribute on folders. This works great. All ActiveX Security Settings can be set to Enable and software cannot be ...

Blocking ActiveX software installation
I am able to block patrons from installing software from a Web page by using WinSelect to disable the buttons in IE's Security Warning dialog. This works great for all but a few installers. There is some installers, such as Yahoo! Messenger and the Google Toolbar, that get initiated by an ActiveX co...

Just a guess
I could be wrong here...never used Zone Alarm myself. I think Zone Alarm is attempting to protect your system by using some form of NAT (network address translation). If this is true, your computer has 2 IP addresses. One of them is the actual Internet IP address, the other one is an internal addres...

Best to use IE 6.0 or 5.5 with PWB?
Are there any reasons to have IE 6.0 installed, versus 5.5 when using PWB, or vise versa?
Thanks!
